Frequently Asked Questions

How do I connect the app to my radio?

Connect your iPhone or iPad's audio output to your transceiver's audio input jack using an appropriate cable. Configure your radio's VOX to key from the audio input, and the beacon will transmit automatically when audio plays.

Do I need a license to use this app?

You need a valid amateur radio license to transmit. The app itself only generates audio—you're responsible for ensuring your transmissions comply with your license class and local regulations.

Why does the app need microphone access?

Microphone access is only used for recording voice messages in Message mode. These recordings are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded anywhere.

Can I run the beacon while using other apps?

Yes! The app supports background audio, so your beacon continues running even when you switch to other apps or lock your device.

What tone frequency should I use?

Common frequencies are 400 Hz, 700 Hz, and 1000 Hz. The best frequency depends on your radio's audio passband and your intended use. For antenna tuning, any frequency within your radio's audio range works well.
